Planting Root Vegetables
Today, strong evidence exists that some of the vital nutrients found in many root vegetables — including vitamin A,vitamin C, potassium, magnesium and dietary fiber — can help fight cancer, diabetes, obesity, and inflammatory-based disorders like heart disease and arthritis.
Root vegetables – carrots, parsnips etc – are best sown from seed directly into the ground.
To get long, straight vegetables, the soil needs to be dug deeply and all hard material broken up. This will allow the roots grow downward unhindered.
Dig the area deeply, mixing in Garden Mix Plus at a 50/50 ratio. Sow the seeds and once they germinate start removing the weaker plants too give the remaining seedlings room to develop.
